Technical Writing team within Product Management

The team focuses on release information management and developing end-user documentation for a market-leading, web-based enterprise software product in a growth environment with leading edge technologies.

Responsibilities
  • Write new material and maintain existing documentation for a variety of English-speaking end-user audiences
  • Publish (PDF) reference/user guides, online Help (various formats), and release notes
  • Assist with coordinating internal pre-release activities, including knowledge transfer/management and training materials
  • Work closely with Product Management business analysts and product managers, as well as subject matter experts in Development, Client Support, Implementation, and QA
  • Respond to peer review of technical content and implement related revisions
  • Inspect existing documentation and recommend/implement enhancements for greater usability, productivity, and quality
  • Generate topic content, even in the absence of information in specifications, use cases, or other product-requirement documents
  • Manage limited time and resources to cover a range of technical topics under strict deadlines

 

Qualifications
  • 2+ year experience developing software documentation for English-speaking audiences
  • Expertise in using industry-standard authoring and other tools: Adobe FrameMaker, WebWorks, SnagIt, and Visio
  • Experience in single-sourcing techniques and methodology
  • Proficiency with Adobe Acrobat Professional and standard MS Office applications
  • Ability to adhere to evolving documentation styles/standards and contribute to their development
  • Familiarity with the software development cycle and the ability to meet the requirements of each milestone
  • Ability to learn new tools, interfaces, and business processes quickly
  • Experience in reading use cases, flowcharts, and UI design documents
  • Must be able to function independently, while contributing positively to Product Management
  • Excellent written and oral English communication skills — well organized and detail-oriented
  • Technical editing abilities, and proficiency with grammar and style
  • Passionate about precise, accurate, accessible end-user documentation
  • Ability to rapidly implement improvements and updates with legacy documentation
  • BA/MA, English/Journalism (in English)/Technical Communications (in English) or equivalent experience
  • BS/MS, Engineering/Computer Science or equivalent experience is an asset
  • Native Speaker preferred
